Direct Your Purpose Takes Clients from Aspiration to Action
Sometimes it takes an outsider’s view to help someone clearly see their goals and turn those into reality.
That’s where Ruby Maddox steps in. As owner of Direct Your Purpose she provides support, guidance and direction to individuals and organizations.
“A lot of times these really amazing and awesome people often have no idea how amazing and awesome they are,” she said. “I get to be the one to hold that mirror up to them and be the person who helps them drive their amazing idea forward.”
Finding her own path – such as going to college then starting a not-for-profit and starting her own business – has helped her recognize how to guide others. She also takes knowledge from 16 years of helping higher education students find their way in higher education. Through Direct Your Purpose she now focuses on strategic coaching and planning by taking client’s aspirations and putting them into action.
“It’s helping people figure out a strategic action plan, helping people build a strategy from their inner ‘why,’ knowing not just what to do but why they’re doing it, and how it’s going to impact the outcome they’re looking for,” Maddox said.
Direct Your Purpose helps others discover potential answers and opportunities, then pushes them toward their goal.
“It’s like being a guide and a cheerleader,” Maddox said. “It’s helping people see those blind spots to get to their goals. It’s helping people realize their own potential. Sometimes that blind spot is them. They don’t realize what they’re bringing to the table, believing in themselves.”
“I get to be the person that helps to reinforce that,” she added.
The past year she’s seen an increase in people reevaluating their lives, whether they have no idea how to pursue their dream or they are just seeking any new direction. To help people who are rethinking their paths, she’s advertising on the Stand Out Truck to encourage them to try coaching and business planning sessions. Previously Maddox has advertised Direct Your Purpose on social media but nothing this widely visible. Although the truck is focused on areas of Western Massachusetts, Maddox has clients from all over the country and conducts consultations by phone.
She usually begins with a thirty- to sixty- minute session for coaching and business planning respectively. Individuals or businesses can then move forward with additional consultations with Maddox. But sometimes just having the conversation might make them feel ready to put their plan into action.
“The answers are there, so my job in directing purpose is to push that out into the world,” said Maddox. “I can help them achieve clarity to make their goals a reality.”
