Premiere Staffing Seeks Those Ready to Work
Finding employees for other companies is what Premiere Staffing has been doing for 14 years and is their way of helping to benefit the community.
Like everyone else however the pandemic has made staffing a challenge.
“Probably the most difficult time in staffing in my 26 years has been the last couple of years,” said Ernie Whitney, one of the agency’s founders and CEO. “All we need now are people to fill openings.”
To help in their effort the employment agency enlisted the Stand Out Truck. Advertising coincided with the reduction in unemployment benefits, with a hope that as people are seeking work they’ll consider a job with one of Premiere Staffing’s clients.
These employers offer jobs ranging from supervisors to quality control. They include entry level positions with little to no experience to those in skilled manufacturing. Skilled machinist workers are those who are in most demand.
Whitney said almost every job right now is offering above minimum wage, and even entry level positions have opportunities for advancement and an even higher salary.
“Anyone that’s seeking a career or opportunity, we’d love to see them,” he said.
Premiere Staffing helps employees find positions in office support, clerical, warehouse work, and light industrial manufacturing for businesses in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Their three offices provide services along Interstate Highway 91, but they maintain their “strictly locally owned” status.
“When people do business with us, they know first of all that the money stays here,” said Whitney. “We’re supporting people right here in the area.”
They’re also recognized for keeping the owners very involved in daily operations of the business. “We’re right on the front lines with the rest of our staff,” Whitney said.
His background in manufacturing helps him to understand what challenges those types of businesses face. He’s aware of their needs to meet deadline orders for customers, having people on the job to complete those projects, and meeting delivery dates.
Whitney said agencies like Premiere Staffing have historically been used to find temporary employees for special projects, large orders, or when employers required extra help for a short period of time. Now almost every job is a “temp to hire” position, so employees who pass the first few months of a job are invited to work permanently.
