Maureen Sullivan Media: Sparking New Ideas to Help Businesses Stand Out

Stand Out Truck Stories LOGO-01.png

Springfield, MA “I wanted to help small businesses and I loved the Stand Out Truck™,” Maureen Sullivan, Owner of Maureen Sullivan Media, shared. “The idea of being able to be mobile with your digital advertising and creative with your positioning and location is just amazing. So, I made an offer for people to nominate 5 small business to receive free promotion sponsored by Maureen Sullivan Media on the Stand Out Truck™. We spent about 15-20 minutes at each business, the owners had their pictures taken with their digital billboard on the truck, and we were able to really bring some attention to the work they’re doing!”

From the time she was a little girl, Sullivan loved sparklers and possessed a passion for “sparking new ideas”. She has worked extensively in media and has spent her career finding opportunities to make connections that make sparks fly, igniting the success of a diverse range of ventures, events and businesses.

When she saw the hard-hitting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses and events, Sullivan saw a unique opportunity to collaborate with Mychal Connolly, Brand Ambassador for Stand Out Truck™ to help local businesses to get the attention and engagement they so urgently needed. Among the winners for Sullivan’s promotion offer was Socialite Coffee Bar, whose featured ad was displayed on the Stand Out Truck™ and article was shared on StandOutTruck.com.

“It was a great way to fuel support for local small businesses and highlight my business at the same time! It was a win-win, and proof that you don’t have to wait for perfect circumstances to be able to support someone else,” Sullivan explained. “One thing that energizes me and benefits my clients, is that I love to create partnerships. It’s exciting when all of the pieces come together.”

In his book The Medici Effect: What Elephants & Epidemics Can Teach Us About Innovation, Frans Johansson talks about “intersectional ideas”, which happen when “individuals, teams, or organizations step into the [place of] Intersection by associating concepts from one field with concepts in another.”[1] He goes on to state that “intersectional innovations… change the world in leaps along new directions,” calling them “surprising and fascinating,” and encouraging readers to find these intersectional spaces where “unusual combinations can occur.”[2]

Who could have guessed that the intersection of a pandemic, mobile digital billboards, worried small businesses, and the creativity of media maven, Maureen Sullivan, would produce connections that have uplifted the community as a whole? “If each organization brings their talents to the table and everyone does their part, it lightens the burden, makes success more accessible, and everyone benefits,” Sullivan stated. “Partnerships make it a lot easier for businesses to gain needed exposure than if they attempt to do it alone. Businesses that continue to advertise, have a presence on social media, collaborate with other businesses, and stay visible, will do better than those who stay silent during this time.”

And Sullivan is allowing the creative sparks to continue to burn bright, most recently collaborating with five local businesses to offer a holiday-themed promotion called “Five Days of Presents”. Each business received a social media post about their business and their website link was shared, in exchange for amazing giveaways for the general public, including floral arrangements (Rooted Flower Farm & Gift-ology Longmeadow), cookies (Hot Oven Cookies), cupcakes (Auntie Cathie’s Kitchen), and even a wine tasting for 4 (Glendale Ridge Winery). And rumor has it, she may be adding another day, so click this link and find out how you can win!
