Springfield, Mass. - Whether it’s for babies, birthdays or baptisms, Nilsa Soto will find a way to help families celebrate in style. For the past three years the party planner has been creating special events for clients in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Her custom decorations give Parties to Remember a special flair that make every occasion special.
Soto started Parties to Remember after years of creating parties for her three daughters, then designing them for families and friends. As each party became more elaborate, friends pushed her to consider professional party planned. In 2019 Soto officially launched her own business.
Her message is “Plan, Create, Celebrate.” It reinforces the direction she wants for her clients, that she makes party planning simple.
“I like to give people an event they want at an affordable rate,” Soto said. She utilizes payment options and will work within a client’s budget to meet their vision. Soto knows firsthand the challenge of planning an interesting party while being mindful of expenses.
“Even when you do it yourself, it’s still a headache and is going to be the same cost, versus having someone do it for you,” she said.
Boosting Her Message
Soto first spotted the Standout Truck at a birthday party when it was being used to celebrate the guest of honor. She didn’t know anything about the mobile billboard but thought the concept was interesting.
“I was really excited to try it,” Soto said.
She’s hoping to boost her presence on Instagram (@partiestoremember) and show people the creativity and originality from her parties. Thanks to woodworking assistance from her husband, Soto decorates events with custom items like three-dimensional letters. By owning or building these decorations, clients can save money on rental fees.
After renting materials from other businesses, she decided she’d rather have access to her own dedicated inventory of tables and chairs that weren’t damaged or dirty on arrival. This also saves clients on rental fees plus the hassle of keeping track of paying multiple people.
Although Soto has been in business for three years, she had a bump during the pandemic that improved last year. “People were eager to get back to their parties,” she said.
Bringing Joy to Others
For Soto, the best thing about planning these special events for others is seeing the faces on her clients when it all comes together, in particular “the joy it brings to my clients getting what they wanted, and bringing their vision to life.”
Soto works with whatever theme her client wants, even if it’s something unfamiliar. She quickly brushes up on every subject, and then lets her creativity take over. Occasionally clients dictate exactly what they want, but often she’s given full reign with the original design.
She has designed parties for pets and weddings, but her favorites are the glamour of parties for a Sweet 15 or Quinceanera. Overall she especially likes being able to give clients what they want for their special occasion.
