Finding Harmony in the Berkshires

Berkshires, Mass. - Outdoor activities, year-round events and fantastic scenery are all reasons why people love the Berkshires. For realtor Harmony Edwards, selling the beauty of the Berkshires is paramount to selling homes there. In fact, her slogan is “Selling Berkshires.”

“I’m looking for people who are looking to learn, experience and explore the Berkshires,” Edwards said.

She particularly enjoys helping those considering a second home or relocating. She feels people can easily buy a rental property there, and with year-round tourists it will pay for itself.

To better help those relocating, she has access to agents around the world through her Keller Williams office. She also has a real estate license in Florida and is exploring licensing in other states.

Simply looking at homes brings Edwards joy, though she thoroughly enjoys working directly with clients.  “It’s the relationship you build with a client,” she said. “With a first-time homebuyer you build an emotional connection with them.”

First to Standout

There are no digital billboards, let alone mobile digital billboards, in the Berkshires so Edwards is eager to use the Standout Truck to advertise her realtor services. The uniqueness of the truck’s mobility is what piqued her interest.

“It goes beyond the digital part,” she said.

She had been following Standout Truck on social media but didn’t realize it could be available outside of the Springfield area until she reached out to the business.

“It was a situation where you might as well ask, and the worst he can say is no,” she said.

Edwards received her real estate license two years ago after many years managing and assisting others with investment properties.  A seminar about real-estate investing - which she almost didn’t attend - convinced her to take steps forward to control her own destiny so that she could spend more time with her family.

The seminar gave her a better understanding of the language used in real estate transactions and creative strategies that she can use as a realtor.

It also put her in the direction of investing in real estate on her own. She’s in the process of completing her first home flip, and marks the first time she managed the process on her own.

Prioritizing goals

Edwards’ family is her motivation for everything she does. She even includes her daughter in showings and open houses whenever possible.

“I think it’s important for her to see me in action,” she said. “A lot of kids miss that.”

Being client-focused is something that sets her apart. Edwards wants her clients to reach their real-estate goals and works with them through the process to get there, even if their immediate short-term dreams aren’t realistic.

“I believe I bring a different experience to the entire real estate transaction. I just keep things real,” Edwards said.

“I’m willing to work with my clients and help them understand the process,” she said. “It’s going beyond the transaction, and that’s the relationship you build with someone.”
